When I met stories

I have always enjoyed reading stories ever since I can remember. I really think stories are a big deal. I believe it has the ability to shape who we are, what we know and what we believe. Growing up as a child, I used to be left on my own a lot. Just imagine leaving an inquisitive child on her own for long hours on end. I most definitely did not sit still. This was how I discovered books and the numerous stories inside them. I spent the long hours snooping all around our house searching for something of worth to occupy my mind. It was not long I discovered daddy's book cabinet. It was old, very old actually and covered with so much dust. I distinctly remember coughing repeatedly whilst I pulled out all the books I could reach before sitting cross legged as I continue to do when reading on the floor. I was seven years old at this time. Not all the books I read was appropriate for my age. I read the good, the bad and the ugly(daddy will so not like to hear this). I just was so hungry to read, I read anything and everything so long as it was a story. It was later on I realised I had been reading books recommended only at the university level.  Fast forward decades later, I am still in love with stories. Today, I believe stories are a powerful tool to change the world- we only have to begin by telling it.
